HolmbäckNordentoft is closing down...

After seven fruitful years Ulrik and Sebastian have decided to part ways and continue independantly. We thank you all for your interest in our work and if you have any inquiries about new work or other matters please contact either of us. We will finish all current projects together into the spring of 2016 and sometime early next year this site will hold links and email adresses for our respective new websites.

to our lovely and sweet colleagues that yesterday won, not one, but two awards each. Gam+Fratesi (Stine and Enrico) and Margarethe Odgaard both deservedly grabbed both of the awards they each were nominated for at the Danish Design Awards 2015. Obviously it's a huge mystery to us that we weren't nominated for anything, but as long as wonderful and talented people like this get the accolade they deserve... : )

At HolmbäckNordentoft we love sports (actually Ulrik was Scandinavian Youth Champion in handball back in the 80's!) so of course we also support our local youngsters. These young ladies just celebrated their new outfits with a 24-20 victory. We're proud sponsors!

Danke schön für den "Special Mention Design Award 2015"!

Today the German Design Council announced the winners of the German Design Award, among which our series Emma have been awarded a Special Mention Award. The jury says: "Due to the high quality among the number of participants, the German Design Council will award the distinction Special Mention. This award honours achievements whose design exhibited particularly noteworthy aspects or solutions - a distinction that acknowledges the commitment of both companies and designers.

Now that's how all Monday mornings should begin...

Goodbye and good luck...

Today is a sad day as we have to say goodbye to Lukas, our intern for the last four months. It has been a great pleasure to have him at the studio, and if anyone out there needs a good designer (and based in Austria 'cause he miss the mountains) give him a call. All the best to you kid - best intern ever!

Taking a bite of the Big Apple...

So it's finally out; legendary food entrepreneur Claus Meyer is going to NY, establishing a food court and a new restaurant at Grand Central Station. Working alongside Christina Meyer Bengtsson, HolmbäckNordentoft is going to make it happen and look good! We're pretty exited to say the least...

Today the Michelin guide announced that Restaurant Studio and Torsten Vildgaard have earned themselves a star! That's some feat having only been open for four months! Big applause to Torsten and his team. Must have something to do with the beautiful interior (by one Mrs. Meyer and guess-who design studio....)

Welcome 2014...

The new year is here and we're enjoying it already! Not least because Danish newspaper Berlingske named us "Designers that rocked 2013" in one of their final issues of '13. We'll do our best to rock even harder in '14. Happy new year out there!

While it was still hot and summerly, journalist Chieko Tomita and talented photographer Kazuma Takigawa came by for lunch in the studio. Read the full story in japanese magazine "with CASA"...

How often do you get the chance to change the color of an iconic building?

Not often - but with the renovation of the old customs building in central Copenhagen we did. An intense but soft green has replaced the former brownish color, giving the building from 1937 the expression it deserves.

This week sees the opening of The Standard, which is the new name for the house which has three new restaurants and a jazz club. Together with Mrs. Meyer Bengtsson we've made the interior for two of them; Almanak and Studio. Check them out under work..
